Retired Police Captain Explains Why the War on Drugs has Failed, and Needs to End

Peter Christ retired as a police captain after a 20-year career enforcing drug laws. From the beginning, Peter believed "the drug war can never be won and it is doing more harm than good." After retiring , Peter began speaking out publicly against that War. Peter then originated the idea of creating Law Enforcement Against Prohibition (LEAP,) a drug policy reform group of current and former members of law enforcement modeled on "Vietnam Veterans Against the War". In this video, which was aired on WGRZ-TV in Buffalo, Peter effectively answers all questions and objections presented regarding the current war on drugs, and how legalizing drugs and ending prohibition, as we did with alcohol, would benefit law enforcement, the economy, and actually lessen drug abuse. In 15 minutes he covers more territory that would take hours elsewhere. It is well worth the watch to be educated on the basics of this issue, which few Americans know.

Protest Planned for Justina Pelletier held by Boston Children’s Hospital Against Her Parents’ Will for Nearly 10 months

15 year old Justina from CT has been held at Boston Children's Hospital (BCH) going on 10 months! Her parents and family are only allowed one hour of monitored visitation and 2 20 minute monitored phone calls each week. Shockingly, this family has written proof that every medical action taken by them in their care of Justina was ordered by a physician. Despite this proof, BCH forcibly removed the parents from Justina’s care and have since assumed custody of their child indefinitely. The parents of Justina's next court date is 12/5/13' We hope that Justina will be released to the custody of her parents that day. Please attend the protest and show your support for the family and all families that have been affected by such poor and unjust decisions.

Big Pharma Teams up with Government to Shut Down Natural Birth Centers Cutting Into Hospital Profits

Hospitals are losing millions to natural birth centers and want to use government regulation to eliminate their competition. According to an employee of a Fort Mill center, Obstetricians from Rock Hill sent an email to a S.C. Department of Health and Environmental Control (DHEC) board member in order to shut down the center. They succeeded. In September, the license for a Fort Mill birth center was suspended pending an investigation by DHEC. This shut down not only effects the Fort Mill center, but all birth centers throughout the state.

Florida Couple Files Lawsuit Over Ban on Front-Yard Vegetable Gardens

May the government prohibit you from peacefully and productively using your own property to feed your family? For 17 years, Hermine Ricketts and her husband Tom Carroll used their front yard to grow food for their own personal consumption. And for 17 years, nobody had a problem with it . . . until now. In May 2013, Miami Shores Village, Fla. amended its ordinance to make clear that front-yard vegetable gardens were prohibited. Only vegetables are explicitly banned—trees, fruit and garden gnomes are just fine. A few days later, the Village’s code enforcement department served Hermine and Tom with a notice informing them they were in violation of the front-yard vegetable ban. The department threatened them with fines of $50 per day if they did not destroy their beautiful garden. Unable to bear the cost of such hefty fines, Hermine and Tom had no option but to surrender to the government’s demands and uproot the garden. The battle, however, is far from over. Hermine and Tom are part of a nationwide movement of small-scale food producers and consumers who are tired of the government dictating what foods they can grow, sell, and eat. On November 19, 2013, they joined with the Institute for Justice to challenge Miami Shores’ senseless front-yard vegetable garden ban. Their case aims to vindicate the right of all Americans to peacefully use their own property to support their own families.

“Regulate Supplements Like Drugs!” says Senator Durbin on NPR

In just under five minutes, Senator Durbin reveals his plan, which would effectively eliminate supplements from the shelves. Durbin says that supplement producers should be legally liable for identifying anything about the supplement that “might” interact with a drug or cause some vague and ill-defined additional difficulty. Even drug companies are not required to report how a drug might interact with all other drugs, because they could never do so. The senator also said: "I want at least to be sure, as a consumer, of what I’m consuming and what my family would be consuming." We agree, but this is already required by law for supplements and foods with one glaring exception: genetically modified organisms.

Boston Hospital Seizes 15 Year Old From Parents Over Medical Treatment Disagreement

A 15-year old girl has been held for 9 months at Boston Children’s Hospital against her wish, and against the wishes of her parents. Here is yet another case where CPS has abducted a child from loving parents all in the name of proper "medical treatment." She is being held hostage because of a controversial diagnosis of mental illness.

Homeschooled Children Forced to Attend Government School

We previously reported how a homeschool family in Germany had their children force-ably removed from their home at gunpoint simply because they wanted to homeschool their children. The children have now been returned to their home, but only on the condition that their parents force them to attend a government-run public school, and that they do not leave the country. Germany is the only western country that does not allow homeschooling. The ban on homeschooling began with a Nazi law passed in 1938, and the European Human Rights Court upheld that ban in 2006. Earlier this year, the Obama administration decided to challenge the legal asylum of a German homeschool family here in the U.S. Many people have questioned why the State Department would take time and resources to prosecute a peaceful homeschool family in the U.S. that had already been granted legal asylum? When children are homeschooled they bypass many subsidized government programs, such as mandatory vaccines, school lunch programs based on subsidized commodity food, and others. A recent study that compared home-educated students to those in traditional schools, found that homeschooled children were less obese and healthier. Since the medical system recently voted to make obesity a disease which can now be treated with drugs and open up a whole new market for the pharmaceutical companies, it is not hard to see why governments are not big fans of homeschooling.

Family of Amish Girl Who Fled the Country to Avoid Forced Experimental Chemo Tells Their Side of the Story

Why did Akron Children's Hospital spend so much time and resources to prosecute this Amish family, trying to force a 10-year old to receive chemotherapy that neither she nor her family wanted, even after multiple judges ruled custody of the 10-year old to her parents, multiple times? What motivated this hospital to seek out a different judge to finally award custody of this 10-year old child to their hospital attorney, forcing the family to flee the country? The family has spoken out and given their side of the story, which the mainstream media apparently has no interest in covering.

Hidden Code on Healthcare.gov Breaks HIPAA Law: States User has “no reasonable expectation of privacy”

Among all the problems associated with the new government website designed to implement the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (Obamacare), one of them could be that it is breaking the law under HIPPA privacy rights. This was revealed in Congressional hearings this week. Representative Joe Barton (R-Texas), grilled the vice president of the technology company contracted to design the government website, Cheryl Campbell, regarding why code was hidden stating that users of the website Healthcare.gov "no reasonable expectation of privacy." In earlier testimony, Campbell had stated the website was "HIPPA compliant."
