Cholesterol-lowering Statin Drugs Provide No Benefit: Study of 4 Million People

Aside from demonstrating that statins provide no benefit to most people, this study also demonstrates that the so-called gold standard, randomized double blinded placebo controlled, study is a farce. Add to that, though, the fact that statins have severe and deadly adverse effects, it’s apparent that these drugs are doing great harm while providing no benefit.

Science Confirms Turmeric As Effective As 14 Drugs

Turmeric is one the most thoroughly researched plants in existence today. Its medicinal properties and components (primarily curcumin) have been the subject of over 5600 peer-reviewed and published biomedical studies. In fact, our five-year long research project on this sacred plant has revealed over 600 potential preventive and therapeutic applications, as well as 175 distinct beneficial physiological effects. Given the sheer density of research performed on this remarkable spice, it is no wonder that a growing number of studies have concluded that it compares favorably to a variety of conventional medications.

FDA Approves Dangerous and Worthless Cholesterol Drug

Why the FDA would approve this combination of Zetia and Lipitor is beyond belief. The previous combination of Zetia and Zocor, known as Vytorin, was proven to be a colossal failure in multiple studies. FDA’s action is a perfect example of why we spend more money on health care than any other people on the planet. Liptruzet will cost $5.50 per pill. This means a patient prescribed Liptruzet will spend over $2,000.00 per year on a worthless drug that will be associated with side effects such as muscle aches and pains, memory loss, and neurological disorders.

Statin Nation: The Great Cholesterol Cover-Up

The focus on cholesterol has created an enormous market for statins; drugs that act by blocking the enzyme in your liver that is responsible for making cholesterol. Statins are now among the most widely prescribed drugs on the market, and are the number one profit-maker for the pharmaceutical industry, largely due to relentless and highly successful direct-to-consumer advertising campaigns. However, cholesterol is actually a critical part of your body’s foundational building materials and is absolutely essential for optimal health. It’s so important that your body produces it both in your liver and in your brain.

Statins Might Make Your Heart Health Worse

The biggest “sham” of all is that statin drugs, which millions are taking as a form of “preventive medicine” to protect their heart health, can have detrimental effects on your heart.

High-dose Statins Raise Risk of Serious Kidney Problems

By  Stephen Adams
The Telegraph

Excerpts:

Taking strong doses of simvastatin, atorvastatin or rosuvastatin increases the risk of being hospitalised with a condition called acute kidney injury, or AKI, by 34 per cent on average, found the Canadian team. TV Ads for Statins Drive Overdiagnosis and Overtreatment According to Study

By Dr. Mercola

The United States is one of only two countries, the other being New Zealand, that allows drugs to be advertised on TV, and it’s not difficult to understand why nearly every other country has given such ads the boot.

As with all commercials, the ads are intended to influence you to buy their […]

98 Year Old Lipid Researcher Reports that Cholesterol is Good for your Heart

Lipid Researcher, 98, Reports On the Dietary Causes of Heart Disease
Science Daily

Excerpts:

A 98-year-old researcher argues that, contrary to decades of clinical assumptions and advice to patients, dietary cholesterol is good for your heart — unless that cholesterol is unnaturally oxidized (by frying foods in reused oil, eating lots of polyunsaturated fats, or smoking). The […]

Cholesterol Numbers Used to Sell Statin Drugs Soon to be Changed

Cholesterol Molecule
Health Impact News Editor Comments: The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute will soon be updating their recommendations for “healthy” cholesterol numbers. A panel of “experts” has not revised the number since 2004, when they lowered the recommended LDL target from below 100 to below 70. Two years earlier in 2002, the recommended […]

We keep hearing about different types of cholesterol. It’s all nonsense. There’s only one cholesterol molecule, so there’s only one type of cholesterol. What started this nonsense of types of cholesterol?

Just how many types of cholesterol are there? The more we’re indoctrinated with the cholesterol-as-poison […]

Saturated Fat is not the Culprit in Heart Disease

Can we jettison misguided and dangerous recommendations on fat and heart disease – please? It’s not often that the mainstream media notices an academic meta-analysis, or study of studies – particularly if it goes against the tide of prevailing dietary advice. But that’s what happened with a recent Australian study, published in the British Medical Journal (BMJ). The BMJ paper was an update of a previous meta-analysis by the same investigators, looking at the consequences for cardiovascular health of replacing dietary saturated fats (i.e. butter) with polyunsaturated, omega-6 fatty acids (PUFAs). This time around, the group reassessed the results of the Sydney Diet Heart Study (SDHS), a randomized, controlled trial involving 458 patients that compared the rates of cardiovascular disease among subjects who increased the amount of omega-6 PUFAs – specifically, linoleic acid from safflower oil – in their diet with patients who continued their normal diet. As well as reanalyzing the results, the investigators incorporated them into their previous meta-analysis. The SDHS results were clear: replacing dietary saturated fats with omega-6 PUFAs increased all-cause mortality, cardiovascular mortality and mortality from coronary heart disease.

Forget Cholesterol, Inflammation’s the Real Enemy

Cholesterol is Crucial for Healthy Cell Functioning

By Dr. Mercola

Are you still under the impression that cholesterol is a dietary villain and a primary cause of heart disease? And do you avoid eating healthy animal foods like eggs, butter and grass-fed beef because of “high-cholesterol” fears?

It’s time for these pervasive myths to be laid to rest, as when you understand the truth […]

Are Statin Drugs Killing The Health Benefits Of Omega-3 Fat?

by Sayer Ji
GreenMedInfo.com

There is a growing awareness that the unintended, adverse health effects of cholesterol-lowering statin drugs far outweigh their purported benefits. But now new research indicates that these drugs may even interfere with the heart-protective effects of omega-3 fatty acids in those who are taking them.

A new study published in the journal BMC Medicine is […]

Why Cholesterol is Essential for Optimal Health

By Dr. Mercola

There’s some serious confusion about cholesterol, and whether high cholesterol levels are responsible for heart disease.

Chris Masterjohn, who recently received his PhD in nutritional sciences from the University of Connecticut, has published five peer-reviewed papers on vitamins and supplementation, and he’s currently researching fat-soluble supplements – A, D, and K – at […]

Cholesterol Helps Regulate Key Signaling Proteins in the Cell

Health Impact News Editor Comments: Long criticized wrongly as something evil, I am happy to see more positive research being conducted on cholesterol. When the pharmaceutical industry has billions and billions of dollars invested and earned from cholesterol fear, such research can be quite rare. Earlier in 2012 we published research on cholesterol and Alzheimer’s […]

The Folly of Cholesterol Lowering Drugs

by Dr. John Briffa

The preoccupation the medical and scientific communities have with cholesterol have convinced many of us, doctors included, that ‘cholesterol is bad’ so ‘cholesterol reduction is good’. But, as I’ve pointed out before, even if cholesterol does jeopardise health, the fact that something reduces cholesterol does not make it inherently healthy. Even […]

Statin Drugs Linked To Worsening Osteoarthritis Of The Knee

by Sayer Ji

New research flies in the face of a new theory that statin drugs, used to lower cholesterol, may be of value in those suffering from osteoarthritis. To the contrary, statin drugs are likely contributing to the epidemic of knee osteoarthritis in exposed populations.

Symptomatic knee osteoarthritis is quite common in people older than 40 […]
