DMSO is a well-studied healing compound, but virtually unknown to the public. Why? Technically it’s known as dimethyl sulphoxide, and its physiological properties were accidentally discovered well before its medical applications were researched in the 1960s and publicized in the 1970s. It soon became a controversial cancer treatment or adjunct to chemotherapy that is now mostly suppressed in the USA. Russian scientist Alexander Zaytsev discovered DMSO as an industrial solvent by oxygenating dimethyl sulfide. Yet it was around 100 years later that Dr. Stanley Jacob at the Oregon Health and Science University Medical School discovered highly purified DMSO could penetrate skin and organ membranes without damaging them. Then in the 1970s, even mainstream media was reporting DMSO as a promising safe and highly effective curing agent for several maladies. There were studies demonstrating DMSO’s ability as a powerful adjunct for orthodox chemo therapies and even a promising natural solution for curing cancer by itself. In the 1970s CBS “60 Minutes” aired a feature highlighting the work of Dr. Stanley Jacob. Dr. Jacob earned his Medical Degree from Ohio State University in 1948, graduating cum laude. He also completed a Research Fellowship at Harvard Medical School from December 1950 - September 1952. He went on to teach surgery at Harvard Medical School. In 1982 Dr. Jacob was a defendant in a Federal conspiracy trial for allegedly participating in a "scheme to gain Government approval of dimethyl sulfoxide, popularly known as DMSO." The jury was deadlocked and the judge dismissed the case as a "mistrial." But since the publicity in the 1970s and 1980s, interest has waned to the point of inexpensive DMSO's disappearing from even the alternative health movement's webscape. That's unfortunate. Here’s why it’s almost disappeared from public awareness and why it should be brought up again.
The 2014 sales figures for cancer drugs were just published by the IMS Institute for Healthcare Informatics. Sales of cancer drugs have hit a new all-time record: $100 billion. That's up more than 10 percent from 2013, and up from $75 billion five years earlier. Cancer is obviously big business, as many new cancer drugs and now even cancer vaccines are in the pipe line. Forty-five new drugs for cancer hit the market between 2010 and 2014, including 10 last year alone. These new drugs come with steep price tags, usually over $12,000.00 per month, or well over $100,000.00 per year. Cancer is much too big of a business now to allow anyone to cure it.
The CBS News program 60 Minutes aired an investigative report in 2014 on the scandalous practice of pharmaceutical companies' actions with cancer drugs. The report featured Dr. Leonard Saltz, chief of gastrointestinal oncology at Memorial Sloan Kettering, one of the nation's premier cancer centers. Dr. Saltz is a leading expert on colon cancer. Also appearing in the report was Dr. Peter Bach, also from Memorial Sloan Kettering. Is this a clear case of doctors in the cancer industry developing a conscience and blowing the whistle on the system they earn their living from, and the powerful pharmaceutical industry? The real question is can the current cancer industry really be fixed? While this interview does expose some of the fraud and corruption in the cancer industry, it is still not dealing with the basic issues of how the industry needs sick cancer patients to survive, not cures. As a result, any treatments for cancer outside of this lucrative pharmaceutical market is aggressively pursued by the FDA and squashed.
"If you start with a system heavily damaged by chemotherapy or aging, fasting cycles can generate, literally, a new immune system." “We could not predict that prolonged fasting would have such a remarkable effect in promoting stem cell-based regeneration of the hematopoietic system,” said corresponding author Valter Longo.
A relative says an Ohio Amish girl diagnosed with leukemia continues natural treatments while hiding with her parents amid a legal case over whether she'll be forced to resume chemotherapy. Doctors fought the family's decision to end chemotherapy, saying Sarah Hershberger would die without it. Her grandfather tells the Akron Beacon Journal that Sarah recently celebrated her 11th birthday and seems vibrant and healthy. Isaac Keim says blood and imaging tests showed the cancer is gone. The family's attorney says it fled home in northeast Ohio's Medina County, leaving the country at one point to avoid having to resume chemotherapy treatments. A state appeals court has appointed a guardian to take over Sarah's medical decisions. Keim says the family returned to the U.S. but remains in hiding.
Family of Amish Girl Who Fled the Country to Avoid Forced Experimental Chemo Tells Their Side of the Story
Why did Akron Children's Hospital spend so much time and resources to prosecute this Amish family, trying to force a 10-year old to receive chemotherapy that neither she nor her family wanted, even after multiple judges ruled custody of the 10-year old to her parents, multiple times? What motivated this hospital to seek out a different judge to finally award custody of this 10-year old child to their hospital attorney, forcing the family to flee the country? The family has spoken out and given their side of the story, which the mainstream media apparently has no interest in covering.
Patients with colorectal cancer are usually treated with chemotherapy, which reduces the number of blood cells, especially white blood cells, and consequently increases the risk of infections. Some research studies have reported that aromatherapy massage affects the immune system and improves immune function by, for example, increasing the numbers of natural killer cells and peripheral blood lymphocytes. The objectives of this study were to determine whether the use of aromatherapy with light Thai massage in patients with colorectal cancer, who have received chemotherapy, can result in improvement of the cellular immunity and reduce the severity of the common symptoms of side effects. It was found that aromatherapy with light Thai massage can be beneficial for the immune systems of cancer patients who are undergoing chemotherapy by increasing the number of lymphocytes and can help to reduce the severity of common symptoms.
