A 9-year-old boy with Type 1 diabetes died 18 days after he was medically kidnapped from his father and put into the Arizona Foster Care system, and into a group home.

His father had been arrested for possession of illegal drugs, which prompted the State to kidnap his son.

Richard Blodgett admits he was using fentanyl illegally.  The single father told the Associated Press he had to in order to control pain enough to support his 9-year-old diabetic son, Jakob.

“I wasn’t getting high. I wasn’t abusing them. I was using them to be able to work and provide for my son,” Blodgett said. “Unfortunately, they are illegal. I can’t get around that. But they were stronger than my meds, and they were working.”

This is yet another clear case where neither the parent nor the child requested any “help”, but the State moved in anyway to take the child away from the father whom he loved, against the wishes of both the father and the child.

18 days later, he was DEAD in State custody.

The child’s grandmother who lived in another state and would have surely welcomed the stay of her grandson, was apparently never even considered as a placement for the 9-year-old boy.

ABC15 has published an investigation they conducted on the Arizona Foster Care system, and found that other children have died after being removed from their parents and put into Foster Care.

The video is 6 minutes long:

Excerpts:

Jakob Blodgett was an affectionate 9-year-old who loved to play video games and adored his dad.

“They let him die. They killed him,” said Jakob’s grandmother, Cheryl Doenges.

Doenges’ diabetic grandson died just 18 days after he was placed in Arizona’s foster care system.

“He had done absolutely nothing wrong. Just a little boy living his life. And they took it away from him; they took him away from all of us,” Doenges said.

Medical records obtained by the ABC15 Investigators show the state struggled to manage Jakob’s diabetes from the beginning, and the group home where Arizona’s Department of Child Safety placed Jakob allowed him to refuse the insulin, which he needed to stay alive.

Jakob died due to complications of diabetes a day after Christmas in 2022, according to the autopsy.

“They need to accept responsibility because the Arizona Department of Child Safety killed Jacob Blodgett,” said Attorney Robert Pastor who is representing Jakob’s father.

Pastor recently filed a notice of claim, the precursor to a lawsuit, against DCS and the Phoenix group home where Jakob was placed.

“This is a systemic failure,” said Pastor. (Full article.)

I am glad that Attorney Robert Pastor is stepping in here to provide legal counsel to Jakob’s father, but we are never going to get rid of the murderers and kidnappers if we keep saying that stories like this are “a systemic failure.”

This is a clear example of “systemic ABUSE“, because this kind of abuse happens regularly throughout the entire system.

To call it a “failure” is to claim that the system is failing to do what it is designed to do, and it pre-supposes that the system is designed to “protect” children.

But that is NOT the function of the system, even though it claims to be. We need to move past what the system is claiming to be, and look at its actions and call them out for what they are DOING, and not what they are SAYING.

We know that the system does NOT protect children, and we have known that for decades now based on wide-scale research on children in foster care.

And that research states that children are better protected when they remain in their home with their family, even if that family is “troubled” and has issues, such as the parents being drug users, than when that child is ripped apart from the only people they have ever known who love them, and put into homes of strangers, or as in this case, into “group homes” who are for-profit businesses that make a very lucrative income from collecting funds from the State to “take care” of foster children. See:

And this case with 9-year-old Jakob’s murder is a clear example of how the child welfare system works, where neither he nor his father requested separation, but were forced to do it in what can only be called “kidnapping,” and then 18 days later he was murdered by medical neglect and abuse by the Foster Care system.

If Jakob had died in the care of his father because of not continuing his insulin dosages, his father would be facing murder charges for “medical neglect and abuse” today, but because it happened in a Foster Group Home run by a private corporation who collects funds from the Government, nobody will even be charged for those very same crimes.

Because the local media got involved in this case, there will be political investigations by lawmakers and shows of outrage for a “system failure,” just as there have been numerous times in the past with these kind of crimes that we have been covering in Arizona for over a decade now, but in the end NOTHING will change.

That’s because the foster care system is operating as it has been designed to do, which is to rake in $BILLIONS every year to “take care” of children who have been abducted from their families, which provides careers for literally hundreds of thousands of people in the U.S., from social workers, to foster home providers, to family court judges and attorneys, and all the other private and government-funded administrators that earn their living from this system, including many medical doctors and other medical professionals, such as “Child Abuse Pediatricians.”

NONE of these people who earn their living from this child welfare system would have a job today, if there were not children in the system to collect funds for, and all of those children came from families from where they had to be moved from to get into this “system” and collect funding.

That is called CHILD TRAFFICKING. For more info, see:

And when the goal and purpose is to traffick children, then the system is not “failing.” It is doing what it has been setup to do, and the only solution to solve these crimes is to ABOLISH the Child Trafficking network called “Child Welfare” that is funded through the United States Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), which also funds the trafficking of “unaccompanied minors” coming across the border every day “illegally.”

Being a border state, Arizona is one of the major hubs of child trafficking in the United States, trafficking BOTH alien children coming across the border, as well as children kidnapped from their families through the Child Welfare Foster Care and Adoption agencies, all funded through HHS. We have been documenting this very evil child trafficking system in Arizona for many years now. See:

Is Arizona a Hub of Child Sex Trafficking? Why does Arizona Take the Highest Percentage of Children from their Homes?

There are no political solutions to this problem of State-sponsored child trafficking in Arizona, because the system is run by very wealthy and very powerful business people, most of whom are Mormons. See:

Is the Mormon Church Behind a Worldwide Child Sex Trafficking Ring Operating out of Arizona?

This tragic story about how the system murdered Jakob is now one of about 90 similar stories we have covered in the State of Arizona. (Download PDF)

And Arizona is not the only state where this is happening. This systemic abuse of children in foster care happens all across the United States.

In Texas, for example, U.S. District Judge Janis Graham Jack ruled back in 2016 that the State’s Foster Care system was unconstitutional, and ordered that it be completely abolished and replaced, because:

Texas’s PMC (Permanent Managing Conservatorship) children have been shuttled throughout a system where rape, abuse, psychotropic medication, and instability are the norm.

But the State’s Attorney General, Ken Paxton, has been fighting back to protect Texas’ lucrative child trafficking system and keep it in place. See:

Judge Condemns Texas Foster Care System that Abuses Children as Unconstitutional

So when an entire state like Texas refuses to obey a direct court order from a U.S. District judge to STOP child trafficking, you can be assured that there are no political solutions to this systemic abuse of government-funded child trafficking.

But getting more media exposure and shining the light into this very dark section of American culture is certainly a step in the right direction.
