A Simple Homemade Kimchi

As one of the most well-known fermented vegetables, besides sauerkraut, kimchi has both a large following and a long history. One bite of the sour, spicy, crunchy condiment will reel you in for good. It’s no wonder it has been one of Korea’s most beloved foods for generations! Kimchi has been touted as one of the most healthful foods in the world. And it’s no wonder as those flavors that give kimchi its distinct flavor also pack a nutritional punch. Here's how you can make it at home.

Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS): Major Causes are Known but Ignored

The problem arises in understanding SIDS because the way SIDS is studied is totally wrong! The major components that should be looked into—namely nutrition and a child’s immediate environment (environmental toxins), are totally ignored while all kinds of money and effort is spent on factors that have little to do with solving the problem! When the issue of nutrition IS raised, it is summarily rejected without investigation! Thus factors that could lessen the nutritional health of a child are not considered worthy of investigation. In other words, they’re ignored. SIDS or ‘Sudden Infant Death Syndrome’ is the leading cause of death in the first six months and is rare after a year of age. Yet, it is important to recognize that SIDS is not necessarily ‘sudden’ in so far as happening without any underlying cause. There are consistent underlying variables if one knows how to look for them! This article should totally dispel the myth that "we don’t know what causes SIDS."

How the Calorie Theory of Obesity and Disease has Harmed Public Health

One of the most damaging theories in human nutrition espoused by government authorities such as the USDA, is that all calories are equal, and that watching one's calorie intake has a positive effect on one's health. One look at the nation's health and rising obesity rates should give us a pretty good clue that this theory is false. A recently published article authored by Dr. Sean C Lucan from the Department of Family and Social Medicine, Albert Einstein College of Medicine/Montefiore Medical Center in New York, and Dr. James J DiNicolantonio from the Department of Preventive Cardiology, Mid America Heart Institute at Saint Luke’s Hospital in Kansas City, exposes the fallacies of such thinking and public policy, and its harm on public health.

Three Tips for Better Homemade Kraut

Making fermented vegetables is both a science and an art. Understanding the biological processes behind vegetable fermentation can take you a long way in making simple, delicious batches of kraut. But it is the practice of making them again and again that teaches us what goes into the best batches of these living foods. It is true; each batch of sauerkraut is a little different than the last. The condition under which it is made greatly affects the end result, but so does the vegetable itself and its origin. Microbes from the soil make their way onto a head of cabbage and then into your final product. In order to make the most of this process, it is helpful to understand how to manipulate the process to create the best kraut.

Failed Whooping Cough Vaccine Still being Used in the United States – Outbreaks Blamed on Unvaccinated

ABC News out of Australia is reporting that whooping cough cases among infants are increasing, and that the vaccine seems to be loosing its effectiveness. The National Centre for Immunisation and Research of Vaccine Preventable Diseases in Australia has found whooping cough cases are increasing in very young children. Senior research fellow Dr Helen Quinn says: "The a-cellular vaccine we use now wanes. The immunity you get from them wanes a lot quicker from what we expected...Now that we've got this vaccine that doesn't last quite as long, perhaps some of those increasing cases that we have seen, particularly among three-year-olds, is due to this waning of the vaccine." The pertussis vaccine for whooping cough is a failure. This fact is not even denied by mainstream medicine. Yet, the pro-pharma media continues to blame the tiny percentage of unvaccinated children as the cause of whooping cough outbreaks, when in fact the data clearly shows the outbreaks are occurring mainly among the vaccinated population.

Rice Revolution: Non-GMO Super Strains Developed in Asia Require no Pesticides and Can Feed the World’s Poor

After 15 years of testing and implementation across the planet, “Green Super Rice,” developed jointly by the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the International Rice Research Institute in the Philippines, is beginning to have a dramatic effect on crop yields. The target is to have 20 million hectares under cultivation in another 10 years, according to Dr Jauhar Ali, a senior scientist and regional project coordinator at IRRI in Los Banos, south of Manila. It is in effect another green revolution with the potential to make an enormous contribution to feeding the world’s poor in Asia and Africa. The ability to grow rice without pesticides or fertilizers, besides saving farmers money, is enormously important for the environment. Asia is becoming the dominant source of nitrogen pollution, producing as much as the rest of the world’s nations combined, particularly in the Yangtze and Pearl River deltas. Pesticide pollution is equally bad.

Largest International Study into Safety of GMO Food Launched by Russian NGO

A Russian group working with scientists is set to launch what they call the world’s largest and most comprehensive long-term health study on a GM food. The $25m three-year experiment will involve scientists testing thousands of rats which will be fed differing diets of a Monsanto GM maize and the world’s most widely-used herbicide which it it is engineered to be grown with. The organisers of the Factor GMO [genetically modified organism] study, announced in London (recently) and due to start fully next year, say it will investigate the long-term health effects of a diet of a GM maize developed by US seed and chemical company Monsanto. “It will answer the question: is this GM food, and associated pesticide, safe for human health?” said Elena Sharoykina, a campaigner and co-founder of the Russian national association for genetic safety (Nags), the co-ordinator of the experiment.

Have You or Your Children Been Damaged by Vaccines?

I would imagine that everyone has heard the sound of a crying baby. It is usually a simple distress call, “I need a diaper change ... I am hungry ... I need to be burped ... I want to be cuddled and rocked for a while.” There is another kind of cry that now comes from babies, which is quite different. You may not have heard such a cry or maybe if you have, you didn’t recognize it. This kind of cry is an extremely high pitched scream. This cry is an ear piercing shrill shriek that sounds like the baby is having its bowels cut with knives or having its skin torn from its body. This is not a normal cry for the usual forms of parental attention --- it is a plea for protection and deliverance from a sinister menace. This shriek is the sound of uncontrolled terror and pain. The cause is commonly an adverse reaction to a vaccine. Once you have heard this kind of scream your heart will never be the same, because you realize that something is terribly wrong and you can’t fix it by changing a diaper or giving milk. This article is the first in a series about vaccine damage and recovering from vaccine related illnesses. This article will help you recognize the symptoms of vaccine damage in your children, in yourself, and in friends and family members. Future articles will discuss various options that can be used to heal the damage that vaccines and other toxins have caused. Children are at the highest risk for vaccine damage, because they will typically be given 69 doses of vaccines by the time they are 18 years old.

Breastfed, Homebirthed Babies Taken Away From Parents For Not Using Hospital

All three of their babies have been taken away from them and placed in the care of strangers. Levi was 10 months old when his mother, local singer and songwriter Erica May Rengo, gave birth to his twin brother and sister, at their home in Bellingham, Washington. "Our birth was glorious," she said, and the twins were reportedly healthy, full-term babies, who had no problem quickly figuring out how to breastfeed. The little family was overjoyed, until CPS stepped in to "help." It is another medical kidnapping according to the parents. The Rengos have chosen a wholesome, holistic lifestyle, based in their Christian faith, but CPS has allegedly stepped in to override the parents' decisions. Now Erica and Cleave are living what they call a nightmare, separated from their children for reasons that don't make any sense at all to them.

The Glyphosate Contamination of Organic Food: An Update

Health Impact News recently announced the result of an investigation by Tropical Traditions that revealed that many products in the organic grain market in the U.S. contain glyphosate residue at levels almost the same as conventional grains. In an effort to provide clean food free from glyphosate and GMO contamination, Tropical Traditions continues to test USDA certified organic products to determine which products may be contaminated. In this report we reveal which additional organic products have been tested, and what the results of those tests were.

Health Impact News has launched a new website dealing exclusively with vaccine safety issues: VaccineImpact.com. Vaccine injuries and deaths are often censored in the mainstream media, and Health Impact News is committed to providing news regarding the dangers of vaccines, and the impact vaccines have on the lives of individuals and families. VaccineImpact.com will focus not only on news regarding vaccine safety, but also research on how to overcome illnesses and injuries due to vaccines. We are in the process of building a resource page, and we will soon add interactive community features as well.

Seven Ways to Add Fermented Foods to Your Thanksgiving Table

Sitting down to a big meal with family and friends can be a source of great joy and wonderful memories. By adding fermented foods to your table you provide enzymes and probiotics to aid in the digestion of those ubiquitous and comforting Thanksgiving foods. The microorganisms in these foods are wonderful; and the flavors created through fermentation are unparalleled. Layering the meal with these foods, or simply adding one or two, keeps things both easier on the belly and more interesting for those unfamiliar with the practice of home fermentation. There are many ways to incorporate these foods into your Thanksgiving meal. Sweet treats are prevalent this time of year and many of us will spend a bit of time baking during this week of Thanksgiving. There are a few ways to add culture even to the dessert table.

How Journalists are Censored from Covering Both Sides of the Vaccine Debate

Investigative reporter Jennifer Margulis has asked Health Impact News to re-publish a book review she recently wrote, which was published by The Washington Independent Review of Books. She reports that it was among the top five most read reviews for October 2014 which the Washington Independent Review of Books publicized in a second article. Then the editor pulled the review off their website. Why? Citing a supposed "conflict of interest" that Margulis states was cleared by the editors prior to publication, Margulis states the real reason she believes it was censored was because: I “express outrage that newborn infants are routinely vaccinated for hep B” and I wonder why I was encouraged to vaccinate my daughter “against a disease she had no chance of catching.” Censoring vaccine dangers and safety information is, sadly, common place in the mainstream media. The dangers of these vaccines are well-known, and a matter of public knowledge. The Department of Justice issues reports on settled cases from the National Vaccine Compensation Program which Health Impact News has published in the past. Here are some of the most recent settlements involving injuries and deaths associated with the hepatitis B vaccine, which is routinely given to newborn infants in almost every hospital across the United States. How Natural Selection Cannot Explain Arrival of the Fittest, Only Survival of the Fittest

In 1904, genetics pioneer Hugo de Vries quipped that "natural selection may explain the survival of the fittest, but it cannot explain the arrival of the fittest." In 2014, Andreas Wagner thinks it can. His new book, reviewed by Mark Pagel in Nature, is titled Arrival of the Fittest: Solving Evolution's Greatest Puzzle. What is that "greatest puzzle"? The ability to work miracles.

The Gardasil Vaccine Changed Our Definition of “Normal”

Nina is the youngest of my three children. I had no idea a trip to the pediatrician’s office for a checkup and one simple injection could change our lives so drastically. For the last seven years, our daughter has fought to regain some semblance of her normal life. She never got to play on her high school basketball team. She never got to attend any proms. She struggles through each and every day with the perseverance of a soldier. Her strength, integrity, and relentless desire to live her dreams inspire everyone who has the pleasure of knowing her.

How Medical Cannabis Changed Our Lives: A Testimonial

My name is Dawn. The journey with medical Cannabis began for our family in May of 2013. Our son Jacob was diagnosed with a very rare form of Dystrophy in 2006. This disease manifested at age four, causing him to lose function in his central nervous system, as the myelin sheath began to deteriorate. Jacob also experiences grand mal seizures that hinder his breathing, leaving him in a disastrous state. My goal with this article is to present to communities a very real picture of the truth of what caregiving parents with certain special needs children are experiencing, and the reason cannabis is changing lives. I thank you for giving me a moment of your time and a listening ear.

                                    A Lower-Carb Tasty Thanksgiving Meal

Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, and gravy - cranberry sauce, pumpkin pie, and dinner rolls - these are the traditional foods of Thanksgiving. They are hearty and comforting, filling and tasty, carb and sugar-laden. Thanksgiving might be a feast day in which we give thanks, but for those whose health dictates a low-carb diet, Thanksgiving might seem like nothing but a plate of turkey. Here’s a little secret, though: the familiar flavors of your Thanksgiving favorites can be had without piling on the carbs.

17 Month Old Baby Taken from Family for Disagreeing with Doctors

Jessica Gilmore says, "I just want to love my grandson. That's all I want." However, if Connecticut DCF (their child protective services) has their way, little 17-month-old Jaxon Gilmore, who may not have much longer to live, will be adopted out to strangers, all because a grandmother allegedly questioned authority, seeking the best possible care for her sick grandchild. Here is the family's story as reported to Health Impact News.

A Do-It-Yourself Cinnamon, Honey, Coconut Facial for Acne

Acne is an issue that plagues many people. This has led to countless specialized products being developed to combat the acne dilemma, many of which are more harmful than helpful. Since everyone’s skin reacts differently to so many different things, finding just the right product that is both healthy and helpful can get pricey and frustrating very quickly. Instead of wasting time and money searching for a product to purchase without harsh chemicals that works for you skin, make your own DIY facial using safe ingredients. Making your own specialized products with high quality ingredients is easier, safer for your health, far more cost effective and can work just as well, if not better, than the products on drugstore shelves.

Study: Cholesterol Drug Only 2% Better Results than Placebo

Why should a 2% cardiovascular risk reduction in a drug that has shown nothing before this be considered a success? And, keep in mind, that this risk reduction did not include the most meaningful risk reduction–death. This study found no difference in the most important endpoints: overall deaths, cardiovascular deaths, or coronary deaths. Why does my profession accept this mediocrity? Not only do they accept it, they embrace it. It is pathetic. Folks, we spend too much money on drugs that provide little, if any, benefit. In fact, we spend more on drugs than any country on the face of the earth and we lag behind every major Western country on every important health and disease indicator. This study should be the last nail in the coffin for Vytorin. It is a failed drug that has little usefulness. We would be better served to remove it from the marketplace.
