The High-fat Ketogenic Diet for Cognitive Health: Proven Remedies for the Alzheimer’s Epidemic

The failure of Big Pharma to develop an Alzheimer's drug has been well-documented in the corporate-sponsored "mainstream" media. As Alzheimer's diagnoses continue to increase, drug companies are scrambling to develop the next big drug to market to seniors. In modern times, the most successful drugs in sales, so far, have been cholesterol-lowering statin drugs, as one out of every five people over the age of 50 are now taking drugs to lower one's cholesterol, raking in billions of dollars for pharmaceutical companies. The sick irony to this is that lowering one's cholesterol artificially is directly linked to declining cognitive health and diseases such as Alzheimer's, since 25% of one's total cholesterol is located in the brain. The failed scientific hypothesis behind these drugs is that cholesterol is a cause of heart disease, and that diets high in saturated fats contribute to high cholesterol. However, the actual science shows almost the opposite, and when one looks at death rates, for example, lower cholesterol rates do not equate to longer life - in fact the converse is true: higher cholesterol levels lead to longer life spans. The pharmaceutical industry and the U.S. government cannot afford to reverse their warnings against saturated fats and cholesterol, however, as it would be the same as confessing that the entire statin drug industry has been a scam, and that statin drugs actually cause more harm than good. This is the main reason why the USDA must continue supporting a low-fat diet and condemning saturated fats, even though the science does not support their positions. It is no surprise, therefore, to learn that peer-reviewed scientific studies continue to show that the high-fat ketogenic diet supports cognitive health and can help prevent or reduce cognitive diseases such as Alzheimer's. Here are four new studies just published on the high-fat ketogenic diet related to cognitive health, and preventing Alzheimer's Disease.

Big Pharma’s Continued Failure to Develop an Effective Alzheimer’s Drug: Are Alzheimer’s Vaccines Next?

Coconut oil and the high-fact ketogenic diet have proven effective and safe at treating dementia, Parkinson’s disease, and Alzheimer’s. Meanwhile, the pharmaceutical industry’s continued effort at finding drugs to ameliorate Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s have been a complete failure. There’s too much potential profit in the baby-boomer-turning-seniors market for them to stop; Big Pharma’s boom with cholesterol-lowering statin drugs proved that. There are still way too many who have put their faith in modern mainstream medicine, especially among baby boomers. The next blockbuster drug revenue with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s may be with a new Alzheimer vaccine, since vaccines introduced into the market do not need to be effective, and drug companies cannot be sued for any damages resulting from vaccines.

Study: High Amounts of Aluminum in Brains of Alzheimer’s Patients

There have been unconfirmed suspicions that aluminum toxicity is at least a factor for dementia and Alzheimer’s disease. There seems to be no doubt that aluminum is a neurotoxin, but whether there is an aluminum link to Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, has not been fully explored just recently. A new study, “Aluminium [British spelling] in brain tissue in familial Alzheimer’s disease” does just that. A pathological brain study of deceased individuals whose bodies were donated by family members. It was conducted in King’s College of London and Keele University of Staffordshire, UK, and published December 2016 in the Journal of Trace Elements in Medicine and Biology. The study’s conclusion: "Aluminium is neurotoxic and the concentrations of aluminium found in these familial AD brains are unlikely to be benign and indeed are highly likely to have contributed to both the onset and the aggressive nature of any ongoing AD in these individuals. These data lend support to the recent conclusion that brain aluminium will contribute towards all forms of AD under certain conditions."

Best Foods for Boosting Brain Power

According to the Alzheimer’s Association, more than 5 million Americans suffer with Alzheimer’s disease and 1 of every 3 seniors dies with some form of dementia. Families may spend over $5,000 each year caring for a loved one, and it costs the U.S. $216 billion a year for Alzheimer’s and other types of dementia. However, feeding your brain the right food isn’t just about preventing a disease in the future. Giving your brain the fuel it needs to function optimally may also improve your current cognitive function and creativity, making you more productive at work and at home. Your brain needs the right fuel to nourish neurons, boost production of neurotransmitters and protect against damage and degeneration. Unfortunately, some popular nutritional fads may have placed you at greater risk for damage to your neurons, without the additional heart health benefits and proponents of these dietary changes promised. You may make a significant difference in your overall health and reduce your risk of dementia or Alzheimer’s disease when you purposefully include the foods your brain needs to function and detoxify.

Study: How Ketones as Brain Fuel can Prevent Alzheimer’s Disease

In 2016, a study was published in the journal Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience looking at the effects of ketones as brain fuel and their use in treating Alzheimer's disease. The title of the study is: Can Ketones Help Rescue Brain Fuel Supply in Later Life? Implications for Cognitive Health during Aging and the Treatment of Alzheimer’s Disease. In recent years, the effects of a ketogenic diet has been studied in relation to dementia and Alzheimer's disease in older people, as Alzheimer's disease is increasingly being seen as a "Type 3" form of diabetes. However, since a diet cannot be patented, mainstream medicine has instead focused on pharmaceutical drugs and vaccines to combat diseases like Alzheimer's, as such drugs are seen as a financial windfall for pharmaceutical companies, with so many Americans in the "Baby Boomer" age group entering into their senior years. This new study from Frontiers in Molecular Neuroscience shows great promise in utilizing a dietary approach in preventing and fighting Alzheimer's disease. We have previously documented many stories of family members and caregivers seeing huge improvements in Alzheimer's disease simply by adding coconut oil to the diet, and coconut oil naturally provides a form of ketone energy to the brain.

Alzheimer’s Deaths Vastly Under-reported: Actually 3rd Leading Cause of Death

This week, a study published in the journal Neurology stated that the number of deaths attributed to Alzheimer's Disease is vastly under-reported. One in three seniors dies with Alzheimer's or another dementia, according to Bryan James Ph. D., a researcher at Rush University Medical Center. The new study indicates that Alzheimer's disease may be one of the leading causes of death in the United States. The study reports that Alzheimer' may be an underlying cause of five to six times as many deaths as currently reported. "The numbers that we estimate from this study, about half a million deaths from Alzheimer's disease a year, would put it right behind heart disease and cancer," said Dr. James. As we reported earlier this year, Big Pharma has a terrible track record in producing Alzheimer's drugs. Many drugs have been abandoned after years of research because they were ineffective or harmful. With this new study, however, the market for new Alzheimer's drugs just grew by "five to six" times. The standard statement regarding Alzheimer's Disease is that "there is no cure." This statement simply means there are no drugs approved by the FDA to cure Alzheimer's. One has to wonder if this study is not a pre-cursor to approving ineffective drugs for Alzheimer's, since the market is so huge. Even Alzheimer's vaccines are currently in development. There is plenty of research, however, showing that Alzheimer's is a form of diabetes, and is now referred to as a type 3 diabetes. Like type 2 diabetes, there are lifestyle and dietary actions that can be taken to prevent, and even reverse, Alzheimer's Disease. The ketogenic diet, specifically incorporating coconut oil into one's diet, has shown remarkable results.

New Alzheimer’s Drugs Continue to Fail Where Coconut Oil Shines

News here in 2014 is reporting that two more Alzheimer drugs have failed during drug trials. Alzheimer's Disease represents a huge market for pharmaceutical companies, as millions of people are suffering from the disease, and the rate is increasing rapidly. Many pharmaceutical companies are trying to develop Alzheimer's drugs and vaccines. However, if we are to truly understand the Alzheimer's epidemic, we need to stop viewing senior citizens as a lucrative market for pharmaceutical products. The most successful drug of all time, Lipitor, is a cholesterol-lowering drug aimed at seniors that at one time out sold all other drugs combined. It is estimated that today one out every four Americans over the age of 55 is now taking statin drugs to artificially lower their body's cholesterol. Unfortunately, there is research pointing to a lack of cholesterol uptake to the brain as being associated with Alzheimer's patients. Therefore, poor dietary advice and excessive pharmaceutical drugs must be considered as a primary cause of Alzheimer's Disease. All across the globe, people are starting to use coconut oil to treat Alzheimer's Disease, and the results have been nothing less than remarkable. In this report we take a look at some of these stories, as well as looking at research linking the high-fat ketogenic diet to curing many diseases such as Alzheimer's.
