Pull GMOs Out of Similac? Shareholders Vote No

Shareholders of Abbott Laboratories voted April 26 on whether the company should adopt a non-GMO policy for its products, which include one of the nation’s leading infant formula brands, Similac. In the week prior to the vote, The Cornucopia Institute initiated a petition drive, in support of As You Sow, the shareholder activism group that filed the resolution, to collect signatures urging Abbott to remove GMOs from its infant formula. In just a week’s time, we collected nearly 15,000 signatures. What was the outcome of the vote? A paltry 3.21% of Abbott Laboratories shareholders voted in favor of the non-GMO policy. “While this might appear to be a low vote, historically resolutions on GMOs take time to build momentum,” said Andrew Behar.

The Incredible Healing Effect of Mother’s Touch

A study published in the "Pediatric Nursing" magazine found that when newborns received the Kangaroo mother care method, they slept more, were less agitated and exhibited fewer episodes of apnea and bradycardia. Comparing the Kangaroo care method with standard incubator care, a randomized control study published in the magazine "Annals of Tropical Pediatrics" found that the former is by far superior. Infants receiving the kangaroo care gained on average 20.8 grams per day, while the babies in incubator group gained less than half, with 10.2 grams per day. The mortality rate in the Kangaroo method was zero, while 9% of the babies in the incubator group died.

Vaccines Reduce Newborns’ Disease Immunity: Study

One of the most significant factors a newborn child receives as part of the birthright is his mother’s antibodies to disease, which normally last long enough to prevent infectious diseases until the child’s immune system is mature enough to manage on its own. That birthright is now stolen by vaccines, as documented in a new study by a team of researchers in the Netherlands.

Is the Way You Think About God Healthy?

If we want a healthy life today, we must believe and have proper thinking about God so we can know him and have a relationship with him, finding meaning and purpose in our life.

New Discoveries in Fossils that Refute Darwinism Ignored by Evolutionists

Instead of following the evidence where it clearly leads, some use broom tactics to sweep away scientific challenges to secular beliefs. Sometimes human will—not reason—drives conclusions and behavior. Some ignore the fossils, ignore protein decay, or claim contamination. But all three tactics create far more problems than they solve

Research Reveals Previously Unknown Health Risks from GMO Pesticide

The more we learn about genetically engineered (GE) foods, the clearer the dangers become. While Monsanto insists that Roundup is safe and “minimally toxic” to humans, new research tells a different story altogether. This new study argues that glyphosate residues, found in most commonly consumed foods in the Western diet courtesy of GE sugar, corn, soy and wheat, “enhance the damaging effects of other food-borne chemical residues and toxins in the environment to disrupt normal body functions and induce disease.”

Biotech Ambassadors: How the U.S. State Department Promotes the Seed Industry’s Global Agenda

This report provides yet another distressing example of how Monsanto and its ilk have a stranglehold over the global food supply and how it does everything it can — including influence U.S. diplomacy — to silence people who only want to make informed choices about the food they feed their families. An overwhelming number of farmers in the developing world reject biotech crops as a path to sustainable agricultural development or food sovereignty. The biotech agriculture model using costly seeds and agrichemicals forces farmers onto a debt treadmill that is neither economically nor environmentally viable. Biotech Ambassadors: How the U.S. State Department Promotes the Seed Industry’s Global Agenda examines more than 900 State Department diplomatic cables from 2005 to 2009 and details how the U.S. State Department lobbies foreign governments to adopt pro-agricultural biotechnology policies and laws, operates a rigorous public relations campaign to improve the image of biotechnology and challenges commonsense biotechnology safeguards and rules — including opposing genetically engineered (GE) food labeling laws.

Nuts Help Your Heart, Lower Your Risk of Diabetes

As a natural, whole food, nuts are excellent sources of antioxidants, vitamins and minerals that can boost your health in numerous ways. If you’re interested in protecting your heart health, snacking on nuts is a far better option than snacking on whole grains.

Tell the FDA not to change the definition of milk

If you were buying chocolate milk, would you think to check the ingredients for artificial sweeteners like aspartame? I wouldn't have, until I found out that the dairy industry wants to change the legal definition of milk (along with 17 other dairy products) to allow it to include aspartame and other artificial sweeteners. Can you take action to make sure that milk can only be called milk if it doesn't include aspartame? The dairy industry claim that they're being good samaritans by adding aspartame in milk to fight childhood obesity, but they're afraid that consumers, especially kids, won't buy chocolate milk (or other flavors) if it's labeled differently than regular chocolate milk. Can you imagine a kid in the school lunch line reading the ingredients on the back of her milk box to figure out if it has aspartame? Urge the FDA to keep the definition of milk as-is, so people won't be misled about their dairy products.

Premature Babies, Targets of Unethical Experimentation

Newly obtained documents from the oxygen experiment (SUPPORT) reveal far more extensive medical ethics violations than those specified in the March 7, 2013 letter by the Office of Human Research Protection to the University of Alabama. SUPPORT experiment was not designed to support or improve the babies’ survival rate or to decrease the risk of retinopathy; indeed, multiple elements of the protocol sacrificed rather than supported the babies’ survival needs. The consents were obtained from mostly young single mothers who were in labor. They trusted the doctors at the medical centers--but they were deceived. They did not suspect that the experiment for which they entrusted their babies was designed and conducted as if their vulnerable tiny premature babies were lab rats.

Vaccine Risk Denialism Threatens Censorship on Dangers of Vaccines

British and American researchers have created software to monitor online articles critical of vaccinations in 144 countries. The purpose of this software is reportedly "to create a rapid response to anti-vaccine sentiment." Barbara Loe Fisher of the National Vaccine Information Center discusses how public access to vaccine risk information is being restricted, and that vaccine injuries and deaths are covered up.

No Historical Benefit in Vaccines: Polish Study

The evidence continues to mount. The fact that vaccines are doing a great deal of harm is well beyond denying. Worse, though, the evidence that vaccines have had little or no effect on infectious diseases is clear, as documented in new graphs.

Vaccine Pioneer Doctor Admits Polio Vaccine Caused Cancer

The New York Times ran an article this week on Dr. Maurice Hilleman, a top vaccine developer who worked for Merck. The article was entirely positive, calling Dr. Hilleman "A Forgotten Pioneer of Vaccines," and that "we owe our well-being, and in many cases our lives, to the work of this one man." But what they leave out in this article is how Hilleman admitted to Merck’s responsibility in unleashing SV40, a cancer-causing monkey virus in a censored interview that has circulated on YouTube for years now. 60 different lab studies have confirmed that SV40 has been found in a variety of human cancers, including lung-, brain-, bone-, and lymphatic cancer.

Science Confirms Turmeric As Effective As 14 Drugs

Turmeric is one the most thoroughly researched plants in existence today. Its medicinal properties and components (primarily curcumin) have been the subject of over 5600 peer-reviewed and published biomedical studies. In fact, our five-year long research project on this sacred plant has revealed over 600 potential preventive and therapeutic applications, as well as 175 distinct beneficial physiological effects. Given the sheer density of research performed on this remarkable spice, it is no wonder that a growing number of studies have concluded that it compares favorably to a variety of conventional medications.

Most Women who have Double Mastectomy Don’t Need It

Recent studies have shown an increase in women with breast cancer choosing this more aggressive surgery, called contralateral prophylactic mastectomy, which raises the question of potential overtreatment among these patients. The study found that 90 percent of women who had surgery to remove both breasts reported being very worried about the cancer recurring. But, a diagnosis of breast cancer in one breast does not increase the likelihood of breast cancer recurring in the other breast for most women.

FDA Approves Dangerous and Worthless Cholesterol Drug

Why the FDA would approve this combination of Zetia and Lipitor is beyond belief. The previous combination of Zetia and Zocor, known as Vytorin, was proven to be a colossal failure in multiple studies. FDA’s action is a perfect example of why we spend more money on health care than any other people on the planet. Liptruzet will cost $5.50 per pill. This means a patient prescribed Liptruzet will spend over $2,000.00 per year on a worthless drug that will be associated with side effects such as muscle aches and pains, memory loss, and neurological disorders.

Statin Nation: The Great Cholesterol Cover-Up

The focus on cholesterol has created an enormous market for statins; drugs that act by blocking the enzyme in your liver that is responsible for making cholesterol. Statins are now among the most widely prescribed drugs on the market, and are the number one profit-maker for the pharmaceutical industry, largely due to relentless and highly successful direct-to-consumer advertising campaigns. However, cholesterol is actually a critical part of your body’s foundational building materials and is absolutely essential for optimal health. It’s so important that your body produces it both in your liver and in your brain.

The Health Benefits of Mushroom Consumption

Mushrooms contain some of the most potent natural medicines on the planet. Of the 140,000 species of mushroom-forming fungi, science is familiar with only 10 percent. About 100 species of mushrooms are being studied for their health-promoting benefits. Of those hundred, about a half dozen really stand out for their ability to deliver a tremendous boost to your immune system.

Bisphenol A Released from Dental Sealants and Composites

While many people today are having their dental amalgams replaced due to concerns about mercury poisoning, it is important to take note of this study published in 2011 that found many composites and sealants used in the dentistry field contained bisphenol A (BPA), and that these dental materials can release BPA into your body via your mouth.

Cognitive Decline Linked to Periodontal Disease

A groundbreaking study from the United Kingdom has connected gingivitis and oral health to cognitive decline. The study's findings are backed up by a multitude of research supporting the mechanisms.
