cholesterol treatment with drugs illustration

In 2013 we reported on the research fraud regarding a scientific study that was used to support the theory that high levels of cholesterol and saturated fats were linked to an increase in heart disease. See:

Resurrected Data From 1960s Shows American Heart Association’s Advice on Dietary Fats has been Wrong

This study, the Sydney Diet Heart Study, was supposed to support the claim that dietary saturated fats led to high levels of heart disease, and that one needed to switch to polyunsaturated oils and also take cholesterol-lowering drugs to avoid these so-called dangerous levels of cholesterol. But researchers uncovered data that was not previously published which contradicted the conclusions of the study.

The problem is that the science has never supported this theory, the lipid theory of heart disease. But it did create a multi-billion dollar industry for cholesterol-lowering drugs and polyunsaturated oils, the new expeller-pressed vegetable oils mainly from corn and soybeans, that only entered the food chain after World War II and the age of industrialization.

mass-producing vegetable oils

The British Medical Journal published a report in 2016 showing more research fraud on another landmark study from the past that supposedly showed this link between dietary fats, cholesterol, and heart disease.

This time, they examined the data from the Minnesota Coronary Experiment, carried out between 1968 and 1973. Published this month (April 2016), the title of the article is: Re-evaluation of the traditional diet-heart hypothesis: analysis of recovered data from Minnesota Coronary Experiment (1968-73).

This study shows that upon re-examination of the data, including data that was previously unpublished, that not only does the data not support the lipid theory of heart disease, but it shows that taking interventions to lower one’s cholesterol actually increased mortality rates.

This should be headline news around the world!

Dr. Malcolm Kendrick, a Scottish doctor and author of the book “The Great Cholesterol Con,” writes:

Now, a few years later, the researchers who re-analysed the Sydney Diet Heart Study decided to try and find all the unpublished data from the Minnesota Coronary Experiment (MCE). (One can again only speculate as to why the original researchers did not reveal all of their data.) The main points from this re-analysis were the following:

  • Though the MCE intervention lowered serum cholesterol, this did not translate to improved survival
  • Paradoxically, MCE participants who had greater reductions in serum cholesterol had a higher, rather than lower, risk of death
  • Results of a systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials do not provide support for the traditional diet heart hypothesis

I shall paraphrase their findings:

THE MORE THE CHOLESTEROL WAS LOWERED THE GREATER THE RISK OF DEATH (Source.)

Do Not Expect Science to Get in the Way of the Multi-Billion Dollar Statin Drug and Polyunsaturated Oil Businesses

As the science becomes more and more clear that saturated fats and cholesterol are not the demons American politicians made them out to be in the 1970s, which has affected USDA dietary policy now for more than 40 years, don’t expect any changes in this advice to support the clear science. It would just put too many people out of work, and cause billions of dollars in lawsuits.

Dr. Kendrick has seen the same non-results in the U.K.:

Those who have read my ramblings over the years will not be in least surprised by this finding. Because, as you may know by now, I believe that raised cholesterol has nothing whatsoever to do with the heart disease. So, this finding is not a paradox to me. It is simply further confirmation of many, many, other studies which utterly contradict the cholesterol hypothesis.

I would not, however, hold my breath waiting for this study to make any difference to anything. My current favorite comment on this study comes from an opinion leader from the British Heart Foundation. It is, as follows:

‘Professor Jeremy Pearson of the British Heart Foundation commented: “This is an interesting study which shows that decreasing your intake of saturated fat can have a positive impact in helping lower cholesterol. More research and longer studies are needed to assess whether or not eating less saturated fat can reduce your risk of cardiovascular death.’

Read and weep gentle readers. Here is a man so completely and utterly convinced of the dangers of saturated fat consumption and raising blood cholesterol that he is incapable of grasping what this paper is saying.

Does anyone in the higher reaches of the medical establishment actually give a stuff about this? It seems that they do not. Meanwhile the shelves of our supermarkets groan under the weight of the super-healthy polyunsaturated fat products that we are encouraged to eat, by the likes of the British Heart Foundation.

Yet, here is what the uncovered evidence from the largest study done in this area is screaming at us:

Greater cholesterol lowering, using polyunsaturated fats, increases the risk of death (Source.)

Consumers Must Lead the Way for Change – Just Say “NO” to Statin Drugs and Toxic Oils!

The only power the average citizen has left in what is probably the biggest medical scam in the history of the human race, is to refuse to buy products that supposedly support lower cholesterol. Refuse to take statin drugs as preventive medicine, or simply due to an arbitrary cholesterol number that is constantly changing. These drugs have been clearly linked to neurological diseases, breast cancer, liver injury, memory loss, diabetes, muscle damage, and more.

Choose healthier oils over mass-produced and subsidized vegetable oils that are produced from GMO corn and soybeans. Stick with dietary fats and oils that have been in the food chain for many thousands of years, and traditionally nourished populations throughout the ages. These include healthy dairy products like butter that come from healthy animals that primarily graze on grass, olive oil, coconut oil, palm oil, and sesame oil.

Polyunsaturated oils should not come in highly processed liquid form for cooking, but packaged within nature’s packaging such as seeds and nuts, and eaten as whole foods.

The statin scam and the cholesterol myth has been exposed, but there are powerful sources at work in the medical system to keep it going.

One of the best documentaries exposing the statin scam and interviewing doctors in the industry who have exposed it, was published in 2013 on ABC in Australia. The medical authorities were not successful in preventing it from being aired on TV, but they forced ABC to remove them from their website.

We currently are using copies available on YouTube. Take some time to watch these important documentaries produced by medical doctors on the statin drug scam, and be informed!
