If there could possibly be one country with a worse pro-vaccine bias than the United States, it just might be Australia. Starting with the (wrong!) presupposition that vaccines are safe and effective, there are moves to silence any opposing viewpoints on vaccines, including the chiropractic profession. Working from a healing paradigm that does not include drugs, the chiropractic profession has a long history of healing people. But this infuriates the medical profession that believes only drugs can treat sickness.
The chiropractic profession has suffered much opposition in the U.S. also from the American Medical Association (AMA), who historically has tried to destroy them. The Supreme Court eventually found the AMA guilty of conspiracy to destroy the chiropractic industry. Story here.
Chiropractors pushing anti-vaccination line face crackdown, audits

Chiropractors will be forced to stop making anti-vaccination and other misleading claims in a crackdown on shonky operators from the profession’s governing board. Earlier this year Fairfax revealed chiropractors were receiving government-mandated training by anti-vaccination clinicians who believe diet and ”keeping the spine in line” will prevent deadly diseases such as polio.
On Thursday the chairman of the Chiropractic Board of Australia said it had removed some courses from its approved training schedule and would be randomly auditing practitioners to ensure they were not making unsubstantiated claims about the benefits of chiropractic. It also announced all registered chiropractors would be required to remove anti-vaccination claims from their websites.
Australian Medical Association head Steve Hambleton said the announcement was excellent. ”We have called on the boards to step up to their responsibility to protect public health and patient safety,” he said. ”They have stepped up and we congratulate them.”
