“Eliminating refined and processed foods like packaged items and those containing white flour and sugar (including bread and pasta) is ideal to prevent malfunction of systems, organs and glands. These food items along with caffeine, cigarettes, insufficient water intake and excessive consumption of alcohol all contribute to an overly acidic internal environment, which does nothing but set the stage for disease, including that which affects the male prostate. Poor diet and lifestyle and insufficient exercise create insulin imbalance (a hormone secreted by the pancreas that balances blood sugar levels), also setting the stage for disease.Foods that are specifically indicated for prevention of prostate disorders include those that contain lycopene.

Lycopene is a plant chemical that adds pigment to fruits and vegetables, found in high levels in tomatoes, but also carrots, watermelon, red oranges, pink grapefruit, guava and papaya. Slightly cooked tomatoes are said to release more lycopene, though it’s important to cook them with a saturated fat such as coconut oil since unsaturated fats that are liquid at room temperature are disease promoting in the body once heated. Lycopene is better used by the body when eaten in combination with fat.”
