On the day unemployment benefits for Americans are ending (July 31, 2020), it was announced that the Trump administration has just given another $2.1 BILLION to Big Pharma for COVID vaccines, and this time the two recipients of this massive amount of U.S. taxpayer funds are companies outside the U.S., France based Sanofi, and UK based GlaxoSmithKline (GSK.)
This now brings the total amount of taxpayer funds given to Big Pharma for future COVID vaccines to around $7 BILLION. No other country even comes close to this number for vaccine development, and the amount is only eclipsed by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, which has given more than $18 BILLION to the World Health Organization for COVID vaccines [1].
Angus Liu, writing for FiercePharma, reports [2]:
Sanofi, already working with the HHS’ Biomedical Advanced Research and Development Authority on a GlaxoSmithKline-partnered COVID-19 vaccine, has won further support from the U.S. government—this time, to the tune of $2.1 billion.
The federal government will pay Sanofi and GSK up to $2.1 billion to speed up clinical development and manufacturing of the pair’s adjuvanted, recombinant COVID-19 vaccine candidate, the companies said Friday.
The deal, from Operation Warp Speed, marks the largest grant to date by the Trump administration’s COVID-19 vaccine initiative, exceeding a recent $1.6 billion commitment to Novavax for its adjuvanted nanoparticle vaccine candidate, NVX-CoV2373.
It’s a huge bet on a shot that has yet to begin first-in-human studies. Sanofi and GSK have said they intend to kick off a phase 1/2 trial in September, followed by a phase 3 efficacy study by the end of 2020. If the trials are successful, the companies may seek U.S. approval in the first half of 2021.
Moderna, after an initial $483 million grant, recently won an extra $472 million from BARDA to run a large-scale phase 3 test of its mRNA vaccine candidate, mRNA-1273. The mRNA approach, while considered cutting-edge and potentially timesaving in terms of manufacturing, has never yield a marketed product anywhere.
In addition, AstraZeneca has $1.2 billion in Operation Warp Speed support for its University of Oxford-partnered adenovirus vector-based candidate, AZD1222, with 300 million doses earmarked for the U.S. Johnson & Johnson, with $456 million backing from the U.S. government, recently rolled its Ad26.COV2.S candidate into a phase 1/2a study in the U.S. and Belgium.
The Operation Warp Speed contract follows on the heels of a supply deal Sanofi and GSK inked with the U.K. government to provide up to 60 million doses of their vaccine. Overall, the two firms have a plan in place to deliver one billion doses in 2021. (Full Story [2].)
U.S. Military to be Utilized for COVID Vaccines
President Trump has said from the beginning of the “Warp Speed” COVID vaccine program that the U.S. military would be utilized to distribute the vaccines [3].
This week, Politico ran a story titled: Vaccine distribution will be ‘joint venture’ between CDC and Pentagon [4].
Some excerpts:
Nationwide distribution of any coronavirus vaccine will be a “joint venture” between the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, which typically oversees vaccine allocation, and the Department of Defense, a senior administration official said today.
The Department of Defense “is handling all the logistics of getting the vaccines to the right place, at the right time, in the right condition,” the official said in a call with reporters, adding that CDC will remain in charge of tracking any side effects that emerge post-vaccination and “some of the communications through the state relationships [and] the state public health organizations.”
The plan breaks with the longstanding precedent that CDC distributes vaccines during major outbreaks — such as bad flu seasons — through a centralized ordering system for state and local health officials.
“We believe we’ve actually combined the best of both,” the official said. A second senior administration official stressed the agencies would be working as “one team” to distribute hundreds of millions of doses if any of the vaccines in development are approved in the coming months.
Private companies are also likely to join the effort. The first official said the government is bringing in people to integrate CDC IT capabilities with “some new applications that we’re going to need that the CDC never had.” (Emphasis added – Full story here [4].)
Americans are not used to seeing the military involved in administering vaccines, although administering vaccines by force against those who do not want them, using the might of the military or law enforcement, has been happening around the world for over a decade now, particularly in countries like Pakistan, Afghanistan, and countries in Africa, where distrust of western pharmaceutical companies and their products is very high.
Recent surveys in the U.S. show only about 50% of the U.S. public currently trusts the government in terms of the coming COVID vaccines, and will not want it.
The big question is, if that includes the military, how will the 50% who are skeptical of the safety and intention of these vaccines react when ordered to administer them by force, against the consent of the “patient”?
As I have been writing for weeks now, it is quite clear what the Globalists intentions are at this point. But they need the masses to willingly obey and comply to carry out their orders.
Will the American military along with local law enforcement turn against their neighbors and family members and enforce tyrannical orders that will harm the masses?
I guess we will find out soon enough….
