Robert Preston Morris, the disgraced founder and former pastor of Texas megachurch Gateway Church, was just released from prison yesterday (March 31, 2026) after only serving 6 months of a 10-year prison term after he pleaded guilty to five counts of lewd or indecent acts with a child for a four-year pattern of abusing a 12-year-old child in his congregation.
Morris formerly served on President Trump’s evangelical advisory board.

Disgraced Texas megachurch pastor free after 6 months in jail for sexually abusing 12-year-old girl: ‘I am deeply sorry’
Excepts:
The disgraced pastor of a Texas megachurch who served a six-month stint for sexually abusing a child in the 1980s was released from jail Tuesday.
Robert Preston Morris, 64, was set free just after midnight from the Oklahoma prison where he was sentenced to in October, according to Osage County Sheriff’s Capt. Matt Clark.
Morris must register as a sex offender and will be supervised by Texas authorities. He also was ordered to pay his costs of incarceration, including any medical expenses, and restitution to the victim, Cindy Clemishire.
Clemishire did not immediately respond Tuesday to The Post’s request for comment, but said in a statement when Morris was sentenced that
“justice has finally been served, and the man who manipulated, groomed and abused me as a 12-year-old innocent girl is finally going to be behind bars.”
Clemishire, meanwhile, plans to continue to seek justice through civil courts, Leach said.
“She rightfully seeks full accountability not only for Robert and the crimes he committed against her as a young child, but also for the other individuals who harbored him, covered for him, lied for him and even in some cases attacked Cindy on his behalf,” he said.
Morris has been politically active and formerly served on President Trump’s evangelical advisory board.

I am happy to hear that Cindy Clemishire is not stopping now, but is pursuing other members of the churches and Christian organizations that protected this pedophile, because seldom does a pastor, priest, or other Christian leader commit these horrible crimes alone, without the collusion of others to cover up their sex abuses.
When Pastors or Priests or other Christian leaders are caught, they are usually just transferred to another church somewhere, as we have been documenting for over a decade now here at Health Impact News.
This is the sad state of Christianity in America today, where American Christians will hide and protect their pedophile leaders, while cheering the mass killing of women and children in Iran, and even praying for their destruction in their churches.
As I have reported for so many years now, these pedophiles in Christian churches are so common now, that any American Christian church that does NOT have pedophiles in their ranks, would be extremely rare.
I just did an Internet search on “pastor arrest sex abuse”, and limited the search to just the past month, and there were more results than I could possibly reference to in this article, as it would take me many hours.
Here are a few of them from the past few weeks, and as you can see, they cover all varieties of American Christians, from Evangelicals to Catholics to home-school-home-churches (including a famous homeschool family with their own TV show) to Amish and Mennonites.
Former SBC Youth Pastor Sentenced to 40 Years for Abuse; Prosecutors Allege He Plotted Victim’s Murder From Jail

From ChurchLeaders.com [3]:
Excerpts:
A former Texas youth pastor has pleaded guilty to two counts of child sexual assault and bigamy and has been sentenced to 40 years in jail. Prosecutors also allege that while in jail, Luke Cunningham, 43, sought to develop a plot to have one of his victims murdered.
Cunningham was initially arrested in June 2024 and charged with two counts of sexual assault of a child and one count of aggravated sexual assault.
Prior to his arrest, Cunningham had been serving as a youth pastor at Lakeside Baptist Church, a Southern Baptist congregation in Granbury, Texas. However, the abuse of which he was convicted occurred while he was serving as a youth pastor at Turning Point Community Church in Lubbock, Texas.
Accusations that Cunningham engaged in grooming behaviors date as far back as 2013 when Cunningham worked as a youth pastor at North Fort Worth Baptist Church, another Southern Baptist congregation. Cunningham even had a run-in with law enforcement.
However, no charges were filed.
Cunningham’s charges stemmed from accusations that he sexually assaulted a teenager in January 2017 and raped a different teenager in October 2018.
In the second instance, he was accused of using his hands as a deadly weapon. These attacks are alleged to have occurred when Cunningham worked at Turning Point Community Church.
Cunningham was accused of manipulating his victims by telling them that he planned to leave his wife for them once they turned 18.
Cunningham reportedly resigned from Turning Point after the father of a victim became aware of his abuse and said that he would not report Cunningham to the police if Cunningham left the ministry.
However, Cunningham soon took a role as youth pastor at Lakeside Baptist Church.
Pastor Arrested After Horrific Accusations of Abuse Against Adopted Children

From The Daily Crime [4]:
Excerpts:
A South Carolina pastor is accused of a wide range of abuses on his children, including sexual abuse, forcing the kids to eat dirt and trash, and killing a dog before making one child bury the dead dog.
Myron Chorbajian was a pastor at 1st Southern Methodist Church in Greenville, S.C., prior to his arrest in May 2025, according to FOX Carolina.
He and his wife, Kathleen Chorbajian, were arrested after the Greenville County Sheriff’s Office launched a child abuse investigation into the couple — who adopted several children over the years — in April 2025 after a victim reported “extensive abuse” starting in the 1980s, the outlet reported, citing arrest warrants.
The warrants detail several specific instances of alleged abuse by Myron, including an incident in which he punched a victim in the face and forced them to sleep in a trash bin and consume its contents, per FOX Carolina.
Myron allegedly placed “the victim in a trash can for three days,” the warrants state.
“The victim was made to eat trash from the trash can.”
The arrest documents also state that he allegedly forced a child to “search dumpsters and eat rotten and discarded food.”
The warrants also detail instances of animal abuse, stating that Myron allegedly ran over a female child’s pet kitten before shooting it in the head in front of her.
He also allegedly killed a dog in front of a child, whom he then forced to bury the animal’s body, per FOX Carolina.
He also allegedly forced a child to eat dirt, paddled a naked victim 50 times and beat a child with a belt until they lost consciousness, according to the outlet.
The warrants also state Myron allegedly sexually abused multiple of his female kids, per FOX Carolina.
Kathleen was allegedly aware of some of the instances of sexual abuse — as well as some alleged beatings or the instance in which a child was forced to sleep in a trash can — and failed to intervene or report them, according to the outlet.
The Chorbajians were arrested in Nashville on May 15, 2025, and subsequently brought back to Greenville, per FOX Carolina.
Myron was charged with three counts each of incest and criminal sexual conduct with a minor between the ages of 11 and 14, as well as second-degree criminal sexual conduct, according to FOX Carolina.
Additionally, he and Kathleen were both charged with 14 counts of unlawful placing child at risk and two counts of second-degree assault and battery, per the outlet.

Excerpts:
A former pastor of a Presbyterian Church in America (PCA) church in Mississippi was sentenced on March 16 to 30 years in prison, with five years suspended.
Christopher Willett, former pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Crystal Springs, Mississippi, was charged in March 2025 with statutory rape, sexual battery, unnatural intercourse, computer luring of a person, and child pornography, according to reporting by ByFaith, the PCA Magazine.
Willett was initially arrested after a 19-year-old woman came to the Crystal Springs Police Department to report she had been molested by Willett beginning when she was 15 years old. The criminal activity took place between September 2020 and December 2021.
The police began its investigation the morning after the victim came forward and executed search warrants on laptops, cell phones, automobiles, and Willett’s home.
Earlier this month, on March 13, Willett entered a plea agreement with prosecutors in Copiah County, Miss., agreeing to charges of statutory rape, sexual battery, and incest. The maximum sentence if tried could have been life in prison. However, the plea agreement limited it to a maximum sentence of 30 years.
The judge sentenced Willett to the 30-year maximum with five years of supervised release. He will also be registered as a sex offender.
WISCONSIN PRIEST FACES NEW CHARGES FOR CHILD SEX ABUSE MATERIAL

From OSV News [6]:
Excerpts:
A Wisconsin priest arrested last year for child enticement and attempted sexual assault is facing new charges of possessing child sex abuse material.
Father Andrew J. Showers of the Diocese of Madison was charged March 27 with two felony counts of possession of child pornography. The Waupaca County Jail confirmed to OSV News that Father Showers is not currently incarcerated there. According to court records, Father Showers is scheduled for an initial court appearance on the charges on April 14.
The latest charges emerged from an investigation of the 38-year-old priest’s digital devices, which had been seized during his August 2025 arrest for attempting to meet up with a person he believed to be a 14-year-old girl named “Abby” — in reality, an undercover sergeant — following sexually explicit message and image exchanges on Reddit and Telegram.
In that incident, Father Showers — who had been director of the diocese’s Office of Worship and parochial vicar for Our Lady of Guadalupe Parish in Madison — was charged with child enticement, use of a computer to facilitate a child sex crime, and attempted second degree sexual assault of a child.
The charges, all felonies, carry maximum sentences of anywhere from 20 to 40 years, and fines ranging from $50,000 to $100,000.
Leader of ‘Cult-Like’ Amish Community Arrested for Alleged Sexual Abuse and Forced Labor

From US Magazine [7]:
Excerpts:
The leader of a “cult-like” Amish community in Missouri has been arrested on suspicion of sexual abuse and forced labor at a rural retreat.
Cooper County Sheriff Chris Class said that Sam Shetler was arrested on March 25 after a search warrant was issued at the Mercy and Truth-Amish and Mennonite Retreat, according to KMIZ.
Prosecutors filed charges of two counts of trafficking for forced labor and one count of sodomy against Shelter, 42, on Wednesday, March 25, which were made available on March 27.
The arrest comes after at least three witnesses spoke to authorities in early 2026 about their experiences at the retreat put on by Shetler, which was described as being run under abusive and controlling conditions.
The retreat was reportedly marketed to people from the Amish and Mennonite communities who are disabled or were in need of counseling or therapy.
The sheriff’s office received numerous tips between 2022 to 2026 regarding “cult-like” behavior at the retreat in rural Cooper County, according to court documents viewed by the outlet.
Witnesses said they were expedited to work on property without pay, while one witness claimed that children would be “leased out” for work in town with all of the pay going directly to Shetler.
Court documents also state that Shetler has been accused of making at least three women believe they were possessed by demons and that they could only be healed by his massages.
“Sam would mentally manipulate and mentally torture juvenile females, and young women into believing they were ‘demon possessed’ or that ‘evil spirits’ were present in order to ‘control’ them in exchange for self-gratification,” a Cooper County deputy wrote in a probable cause statement, per the outlet.
After the allegations came to light, authorities launched a multi-year investigation into the matter before they conducted a search warrant on the property of the retreat.
Inside the Duggars’ New Scandal: Shocking Arrests, Alleged Abuse Offscreen and Questions About ‘What Else Don’t We Know’

From People.com [8]:
“It’s crazy to think this is happening again,” cousin Amy Duggar King tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story
Excerpts:
Life looked idyllic for Joseph and Kendra Duggar in the years after their six-month courtship and 2017 nuptials — complete with a 22-person wedding party featured on TLC’s Counting On, the hit spinoff of 19 Kids and Counting.
The couple and their four young children settled into a tidy ranch in a new subdivision in Tontitown, Ark., close to the 97-acre compound where Joseph, 31, grew up as the third-oldest son of his devoutly religious reality TV family.
“He seemed like a nice guy,” one neighbor tells PEOPLE in this week’s cover story of Joseph, who worked in real estate. “His kids are always up and down the sidewalks … playing like normal.”
But as the world has come to learn, the Duggars can hide dark secrets behind friendly faces.
On March 19 police searched Joseph and Kendra’s house one day after he was arrested on suspicion of sexually abusing a 9-year-old girl on vacation in Panama City Beach, Fla., in 2020 — at the same time that he and his siblings were still appearing on TLC, watched by millions.
Joseph’s accuser told authorities he had covered them with a blanket, pulled her dress up and then inched his hand up her thighs and “grazed her vagina” while his “hand was outside her underwear,” according to his arrest warrant affidavit. The girl said he repeatedly molested her and later apologized, according to the affidavit, which notes his accuser’s dad got him to confess during a call with law enforcement.
Two days after Joseph was arrested, he and Kendra, a 27-year-old stay-at-home mom, were charged by Arkansas authorities with child endangerment and false imprisonment.
What you have said in the dark will be heard in the daylight, and what you have whispered in the ear in the inner rooms will be proclaimed from the roofs. (Luke 12:3)
