Study: Neuroprotective Effect of Virgin Coconut Oil Helps Relieve ALS (Lou Gehrig Disease)

ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) is a neurodegenerative disease that causes disability and can lead to death. It is considered progressive and incurable. It is often referred to as Lou Gehrig disease, named after the Yankee baseball star of decades ago whose career was cut short by ALS. ALS begins with minor muscular control issues then progresses until one is completely disabled, even unable to consume food or breathe. It can be a slow, miserable death for many who are stricken. ALS diagnoses have been increasing, and the pharmaceutical industry has no cures. A recent animal study looked into the potential of coconut oil for preventing or reducing ALS symptoms. The results of the study were positive, and revealed that the coconut oil supplementation together with the regular diet delayed disease symptoms, enhanced motor performance, and prolonged survival in mouse models. The baby-boomer era generations are aging in large numbers, and those aging are most prone to neurodegenerative diseases such as ALS and Alzheimer’s disease. Virgin coconut oil is safe and carries even more nutritional benefits in addition to neurological protections.

Study: Cholesterol-Lowering Statin Drugs Increase Risk of ALS Lou Gehrig’s Disease

A recent study connecting increased statin drug use with rising ALS was discussed by Dr. Malcom Kendrick. He had followed earlier similar studies with similar concerns, but this one confirmed Dr. Kendrick’s suspicions. ALS (Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis), is also known as motor neuron disease (MND), or Lou Gehrig’s disease. The study of concern is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis Associated with Statin Use: A Disproportionality Analysis of the FDA’s Adverse Event Reporting System. It was published by the journal Drug Safety in April of 2018. The researchers at the University of California (San Diego) and Advera Health Analytics, Inc., Santa Rosa, California teamed up to analyze data from the FDA Adverse Event Reporting System (FAERS) to determine what is known as reporting odds ratios (RORs) involving statin drugs users who have reported ALS symptoms. This study, which allegedly had no outside funding, concluded: "These findings extend previous evidence showing that significantly elevated ALS reporting extends to individual statin agents, and add to concerns about potential elevated occurrence of ALS-like conditions in association with statin usage."

Study: Glyphosate Herbicide Associated with Greater Risk to ALS

Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) is a fatal neurodegenerative disease involving several protein mutations in glycine-rich regions with limited treatment options. 90 - 95% of all cases are non-familial with epidemiological studies showing a significant increased risk in glyphosate-exposed workers. In this paper, we propose that glyphosate, the active ingredient in Roundup®, plays a role in ALS, mainly through mistakenly substituting for glycine during protein synthesis, disruption of mineral homeostasis as well as setting up a state of dysbiosis. Mouse models of ALS reveal a pre-symptomatic profile of gut dysbiosis.

60+ Natural ALS Cures the “Ice Washing” Campaign Isn’t Funding!

In a previous article we published on where funds donated to the ALS Association are being spent, we showed that a small percentage was actually spent on research, and even then only on pharmaceutical products. This has been our most popular story of the year so far. Sayer Ji brings us a great review of over 60 natural cures that have published research on helping ALS. He also shows how some of the corporate sponsors of the ALS Association are pharmaceutical companies producing drugs that are linked to the cause of ALS!

ALS Ice Bucket Challenge: Do You Know What You Are Supporting?

The ALS Ice Bucket Challenge to raise money for the ALS Association is sweeping the nation, and going viral in social media. However, do you know what you are supporting if you contribute funds to the ALS Association? Many people may be surprised to learn that only 27% of the Associations' funds are spent on research, with over 50% of its expenditures supporting salaries. Also, if you are pro-life, did you know that the ALS Association supports drug research utilizing stem cells from 8-week old aborted fetuses?

Deanna Protocol Offers Nutritional Program to Slow or Stop ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease)

The Deanna Protocol is gaining national attention as an alternative natural treatment to slow down or even stop the progression of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), commonly known as "Lou Gehrig's disease." In the video below the physician who discovered this protocol gives his story. He is a retired surgeon, and when his daughter was diagnosed with ALS, he looked beyond the conventional medical system, which offered no hope, and turned to nutrition and natural methods instead. The protocol utilizes GABA and other supplements (see Table below), along with a ketogenic diet. The ketogenic diet is a high-fat low-carb diet that has been used to successfully treat many neuro-degenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's, and it has been successfully used to treat epilepsy where drugs fail. We have reported much of the research regarding the ketogenic diet here at Health Impact News. The ketogenic diet is currently being studied in its effect on starving cancer cells. Coconut oil is an important component of a ketogenic diet, as it provides ketones due to the presence of medium chain fatty acids. We reported the story of "Clarence" back in 2012, who claims he actually reversed ALS by eating large amounts of coconut oil.

Coconut Oil Reverses Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS)

I am not raising money or selling anything. I have ALS and want to share things that have helped me. I have had positive improvements from adding coconut oil and magnesium chloride to my diet. It’s the only change I’ve made. I believe the coconut oil and magnesium chloride has slowed, and partially reversed the progression of my ALS. Read More:

ALS and Coconut Oil – A One Year Experience

Dr. Mary Newport, who made headlines in 2008 by publishing the results of using coconut oil with her husband who has Alzheimer’s, recently posted to her blog a one-year report of someone with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease) and their experience with coconut oil.

Here are some of the changes noted since taking coconut oil:
1. Have […]
