mother-homeschooling-daughters

Health Impact News Editor Comments:

We have documented many stories here on Health Impact News showing that parents’ rights on how they should raise their children are constantly under attack, mainly from the medical establishment. If the U.S. government and the medical industry had their way, every child would be forced to receive the full range of mandated vaccines, and only their approved drugs would be allowed to be used for medical treatment. This is fast becoming a reality in the U.S. today, and if you object, you face losing your children to a government agency such as Child Protection Services. (See: How Child “Protection” Services is Legally Abducting Children in the U.S.)

It is no surprise, therefore, that the ranks of parents keeping their children home and educating them in their homes is growing significantly in the United States. It is one way to keep them out of “the system”.

Therefore, expect more government pressure to take away your right to educate your own children. We have seen in 2013 how the Obama administration decided to spend your tax dollars to take legal action against a peaceable German family that had been granted asylum in the United States because they faced losing their children in Germany due to the mere fact that they wanted to educate their children at home. (See: Homeschooling Growing Seven Times Faster than Public School Enrollment – Will Government Restrict It?)  Homeschooling is illegal in Germany, a restriction started during the Nazi era. Why would the State Department spend government resources attacking a home school family like this?

The other system that is protected in institutional schooling of children is the USDA nutritional guidelines, which protects government farm subsidies to corn, soy, and wheat. Many of these subsidies funded through your tax dollars are in the form of purchases for school lunch programs. The U.S. government not only wants to control medical care for your children, bringing in huge profits to the pharmaceutical companies, but they also want to control what your children eat to justify these subsidies for cheap food.

It should come as no surprise, therefore, that a “study” was recently funded to compare obesity rates among institutionally schooled children against home-schooled children. After all, if a “scientific” study could be produced showing higher obesity rates among home-schooled children who were not taking advantage of government-sponsored nutritional programs, it could be used to encourage legislation to restrict home schooled families in the guise of “better health” for the children. This coincides with the announcement by the American Medical Association in 2013 to vote in obesity as a disease, and other studies published stating that food had no effect on obesity, but that drugs were needed instead.

Fortunately, the study proved just the opposite, which is no surprise to those who home educate. After all, one of the main reasons parents choose to educate their children at home is to reject the government mandates for things like vaccines and school nutritional programs.

Home Schooled Children Leaner Than Traditionally Schooled Kids

ScienceDaily

The results of a recent study show kids that are home-schooled are leaner than kids attending traditional schools. The results challenge the theory that children spending more time at home may be at risk for excessive weight gain.

The study was published in the journal Obesity and conducted by researchers from University of Colorado’s Anschutz Health and Wellness Center (AHWC) and University of Alabama at Birmingham. It looked at both home-schooled and traditionally-schooled children between the ages of seven and 12 in Birmingham. Participants and their parents reported diet, the kids’ physical activity was monitored and they were measured for body fat, among other things.

“Based on previous research, we went into this study thinking home-schooled children would be heavier and less active than kids attending traditional schools,” said Michelle Cardel, PhD, RD, the study’s lead author. “We found the opposite.”

The results show that home-schoolers were less likely to be obese than the traditionally-schooled kids, even though kids in both groups were getting the same amount of moderate to vigorous physical activity.
