Yesterday we presented some of the science around why coconut oil can lead to weight loss. Today, we give you some of the more dramatic weight loss testimonies we have received over the years from people who have lost weight after adding coconut oil into their diet, starting with the story of Kelly Inglet whose story was originally featured in First For Women’s January 17, 2005 issue:

My name is Kelly, and I have been on a quest for health for several years now. At one time I was severely obese. I have since lost 140 pounds. I am not yet finished with my weight loss. I know with the help of coconut oil, I will achieve my goal. I read about the health benefits of coconut oil over a year ago, and added the oil to my daily regimen. Within a week, I had more energy, and was feeling like a different person. I love Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil, it is the best I have tried, and I will continue to use this oil forever. The quality cannot be matched.

These are pictures of me before and after I began my weight loss adventure. I have lost over 140 lbs with much thanks to coconut oil. One unexpected thing that has happened since I started my health journey is that I found my wonderful husband (see below). I have always dreamed of being able to feel normal. I finally feel normal and not so ill all the time. I am going to be 40 in March, and instead of being in the hospital or seeing the Dr. several times a month with all sorts of complaints, I will be feeling on top of the world. As a matter of fact, I haven’t seen the Dr. (for illness anyway) for two years. People ask if I have had gastric bypass surgery. I am proud to tell them no. I go on to explain how I have done it. I give people the address to this website.

Other testimonies:

Over the past 18 months I’ve lost 107 pounds, going from 316 to 209 and from 52 to 36 pants (19 pounds to go). I lost the weight following a low carb, no sugar or grain, high saturated fat and high protein diet and eliminating ALL soy products and ALL polyunsaturated vegetable oils. I used about 2 or 3 tablespoons of Virgin Coconut Oil daily. I eat 6 eggs and half pound of beef and half pound of chicken a day and also use butter and olive oil. 1 or 2 pieces of fruit and a bunch of veggies daily. I walk an hour a day and work out 2 or 3 times a week. I’m 53 years old and cholesterol is 172, good ratios, triglycerides at 72 and blood sugar is 85. No meds of any kind, no illness, unlimited energy and I can easily outwork younger guys on my crew. I really believe in the importance of consuming a large amount of quality saturated fats. Chuck

I started taking Tropical Traditions virgin coconut oil faithfully six weeks ago. I am up to 2 ozs. a day and I am experiencing fabulous results. I am also using it on my skin immediately following bathing, before drying off. My diet has completely changed back to vegetarian and I have not had any desire for sweets for over a month. I lost 10 pounds (I was about 30 lbs. overweight) and my appetite is back to normal. I feel great and have much more energy. I am a massage therapist and have a very busy practice. I have been tired and burned out for years but still I plugged away and satisfied my customers. I have not felt tired for weeks now. I am also back to my spiritual practices and feeling very optimistic. I am a great deal less negative and don’t even like to watch TV violence and find TV news disturbing, too dramatic and not worth my time. I am recommending the oil to my clients daily. I could go on for ever about the changes. Bruce, L.M.T.

I receive several health news letters and eagerly went to your website and devoured it’s contents. I immediately ordered a half gallon of the wonderful oil. I have been consuming it for about 6 weeks and have lost about 5 pounds. I have noticed an increase in energy. I had had low metabolism since I was a teen. I am now 76 yrs old. I’m so pleased that I’m losing about a pound a week and no longer have tenderness in my gallbladder area. I walk about 3 miles 3 times a week and love the taste of the oil. I’m 76 and shooting for 100 unless the Savior comes before that! Sally

I would like to say that I have been on Virgin Coconut Oil for the past 2 months ( 4 tablespoons daily) and feel better than I have in a long time! My energy levels are up & my weight is down. I am never hungry anymore, & have incorporated a daily exercise routine & have lost 20 pounds. Paula

Since beginning to use Tropical Traditions Virgin coconut oil, about 8 months ago, I have:
experienced a noticeable increase in my energy, rid myself of cravings for carbs, cleared up my complexion (which has always been a problem) gotten the silkiest, most glorious hair from using it internally AND lost 16 pounds. This oil does all that it promises, and more! Sharon

About two years ago, I bought some coconut oil for the promised benefits of better health and nutrition. At the time I was overweight and I was on a self-willed regiment of better diet and exercise. Every Friday, after a hard workout at the gym, I would weigh myself and keep track of my progress. When I bought some coconut oil, I consumed about 2-3 tablespoons a day, and I kept track of my weight loss. Before I purchase the coconut oil, I lost about 1-2 lbs per week of diligent exercise and diet. Once I got the coconut oil, my weight loss went up to about 3-5 lbs average before I plateaued to my normal weight for my build. Isaul

I have been taking a tablespoon of coconut oil three times daily with meals. Taking the oil with my meals seems to give me a “full feeling” a lot faster. My sweet tooth has practically vanished—and this is from someone who should have bought stock in Hershey’s long ago! Ironically, facilitating weight loss was my main reason for trying the coconut oil diet, but with all the wonderful benefits I am experiencing, the weight loss aspect almost seems like an afterthought. About three days into the routine, I had an energy rush on a Saturday morning that kept me going until well after lunch. I can’t believe how much I got done that day! My mental state of mind seemed to be much sharper. I was able to focus on the tasks at hand without getting sidetracked. I was not exhausted at the end of running my errands, which included traipsing around a huge mall. It seemed like I was practically running, rather than the leisurely walking that was formerly my habit. In addition to my energy level, my mood has been very stable—no up and down mood swings—even with the onset of PMS! My husband commented yesterday on how soft and silky my skin felt, and I have not used any lotion since I started taking the oil. Theresa

I just had to tell you that your product has changed my life. For the past ten years I have been fighting hypothyroidism. I have gained over sixty pounds and it seems that lately my doctor is increasing the dosage of my thyroid medication nearly every month. After doing a lot of research, I first learned that it is probably up to me to cure myself, with a high protein – low carb diet. I started my new eating routine about three weeks ago and about a week later, after reading an article in Woman’s World Magazine, I purchased a 32 ounce jar of Tropical Traditions Virgin Coconut Oil at a local nutrition store. I mix 2 tablespoons with a low-carb protein drink every morning and the energy I sustain throughout the day is amazing. I have also lost 11 pounds in 3 weeks and walking on my treadmill for 30 minutes every evening after work is almost effortless. Thank You for this wonderful product. Cheryl

A PhD Nutritionist from Tufts University who is the Vice Chairman of the 2015 Dietary Guidelines Advisory Committee for the USDA has come out and condemned coconut oil.

Does being involved in research for GMOs, the soybean industry, and developing cholesterol guidelines used to sell statin drugs create any conflict of interest in her advice? Do you trust USDA dietary advice regarding edible oils?

One of the most popular products available to the general consumer to combat the issue of baked and cooked food sticking to cooking surfaces is non-stick spray. A good reason to avoid these sprays is the fact that many of them are made with unhealthy oils and lecithins, generally derived from GMO crops such as soy or corn.

But what about if they are made from a healthy oil, such as coconut oil?

Unfortunately, these cooking sprays also contain heavily processed ingredients, including propellants. Propellant is what pushes the spray out of the can, and is usually made from such things as nitrous oxide, carbon dioxide, or propane.
